Have
you ever thought of becoming a developer in Botswana. Well, it’s a rough patch
to go through with underpayment or just working to find out at the end you are
not being paid for the excellent job you developed. In addition, most big
companies and the government gives out the big projects of web developments,
software developments to foreigners. Does that mean we don’t have experts in
Botswana? Or our developers do not know how to market themselves well? Hopefully
we will get there.
In
conjunction, African countries needs to support and promote the growth of ICT
industry, with particular focus on software development from their own countries. When African
countries continue to nurture and support developers more jobs and wealth will
be created also prominently solutions directed to our own social economic
problems. Similarly, when we look big companies like Toyota, Huawei
Technologies, Apple and man more were simply created and supported within their
countries and went all out to service global markets. These are the same
companies creating more wealth to their countries today.
Meanwhile Africa should
strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the continent as it is still not
penetrated much and encourage talented software developers developing cutting
edge software and application directly solution based to our country.
Appropriately, helping such startups or developers to come up with viable
companies to create employment and wealth. Doing these will help to empower
more youth.
In
Botswana, the minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Honorable Thapelo Olopeng
has recently embarked on a plan to produce at least five young entrepreneur
millionaires during his tenure however one of making it easier to reach this
objective is through promoting the growth of Botswana’s ICT industry, with
particular focus on software development. Yes, it’s a tip to my minister
Honorable Thapelo Olopeng and other stakeholders. Hopefully the youth with
ideas will stand up to pursue their dreams and continue to being more
sensitized about entrepreneurship.
